Attracting large employers to Eastern Connecticut is key to mending the region’s ailing economy, but how the state should court those employers is a divisive matter, candidates for the state’s 45th District House of Representatives seat say.
For Democratic hopeful Tracey Hanson, everything comes down to creating a large manufacturing workforce in the state through investing in vocational schools, she said. But Republican contender Kevin Skulczyck said while vocational training is important, it is only one piece of a larger puzzle that also includes scaling back regulation of businesses.
