MANUFACTURERS URGE ACTION ON ROSS NOMINATION: Over 400 companies and trade associations are calling on the Senate to swiftly approve Wilbur Ross to serve as secretary of the Commerce Department. The billionaire businessman won the unanimous approval of the Senate Commerce Committee last week but is still waiting for a vote on the Senate floor.
“We believe that Wilbur Ross will bring a unique understanding of what it takes to fuel manufacturing enterprises to this vital role,” the group, led by the National Association of Manufacturers, said in a letter to all 100 senators. “Mr. Ross has a firsthand understanding of the challenges manufacturers face to remain globally competitive in today’s economy.”
