How congressional candidates are courting San Antonio manufacturers (

As Election Day draws near, candidates in a heated race for Texas' 23rd Congressional District seat have both made high-profile visits to San Antonio manufacturers in efforts to show that they best represent industry interests.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Will Hurd, R-Helotes, visited the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas plant in South San Antonio on Thursday where he received an award from the National Association of Manufacturers, or NAM.

At Toyota, Hurd touted his pro-business voting record, noting that among the five congressmen in districts that include parts of San Antonio, Hurd received the highest score— 96 percent — on key manufacturing-related bills tracked by NAM.
