How to Keep Manufacturers Healthy and Productive

Congress is back in session, Inauguration Day is quickly approaching, and manufacturers, workers, and families are hopeful that health care reform will be a top priority in 2017.  Due to rising health care and insurance costs, 54 percent of Americans disapprove of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), according to a study by the Pew Research Center.

For manufacturers, rising health care costs and burdens make it increasingly harder to provide good coverage options to their employees. In fact, according to a recent National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) survey, nearly 75 percent of members rank health care and insurance costs as a top business challenge.

The new Congress and administration should implement proposals and plans to decrease health care fees and taxes, as well as burdensome administrative paperwork and reporting requirements that make it more expensive than necessary for employers to provide health coverage to employees. Manufacturers also need more flexibility and coverage options to help maintain a healthy workforce and provide competitive benefits to employees.

Ninety-eight percent of manufacturers provide health care insurance to employees and are committed to continuing to do so in the future. Manufacturers are excited and ready to work with President-elect Trump and Congress on eliminating roadblocks and barriers to accessible health care.

Manufacturers, sign the petition to tell Washington that it’s time to end the ACA today!
