Governor Maggie Hassan serves as the 81st Governor of New Hampshire. Hassan previously served in the New Hampshire State Senate as a Democrat representing the 23rd district from 2005-2010. She was also the Majority Leader for the New Hampshire State Senate from 2008-2010.

Below are the candidates’ history and position on a few priority issues for manufacturers in New Hampshire and across the U.S.:

Renewable Energy: Ayotte and Hassan both voted in support of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan, which would force the closure of a substantial portion of the current electric power grid.

Health Care: Ayotte voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and believes that it has failed to bring down health care costs for families and individuals across the country, and that bipartisan health care reform will increase choice, lower costs and leverage competition.

Hassan supports the Affordable Care Act, but believes common-sense improvements should be made to strengthen coverage and reduce costs.

Infrastructure: Ayotte supported legislation that would authorize funds to improve federal-aid highways, and has cosponsored legislation that would create a public-private sector initiative to finance initiatives to build or repair roads, bridges, highways, ports, schools, etc.

Hassan supports the creation of a national infrastructure bank to leverage public seed money to support infrastructure projects by state and local governments and private companies. She also supports the development of more public-private partnerships to finance critical infrastructure projects.
