Key Senate Race Watch – Pennsylvania Manufacturers: Which Senate Candidate Are YOU Voting For in November?

Pat Toomey, a Republican, is the junior U.S. Senator for Pennsylvania, having served since 2011. Previously, he was a U.S. Representative from 199-2005, representing Pennsylvania’s 15th District. In the Senate, Toomey serves on the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, the Committee on the Budget, Committee on Finance and the Congressional Joint Economic Committee.

Katie McGinty, a Democrat, is the chief of staff for Governor Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania. She is a former environmental advisor to Al Gore and Bill Clinton. Previously, she served as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Below are where Sen. Toomey and McGinty stand on issues important to manufacturers:

Renewable Energy: Toomey voted to nullify the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan, which would force the closure of a substantial portion of the current electric power grid.

McGinty supports the Clean Power Plan and fostering clean energy innovation and job growth.

Health Care: Toomey voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

McGinty supports the ACA.

Trade: Toomey and McGinty oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Infrastructure: Toomey supported authorizing funds for federal-aid highways and believes that the federal government should play a bigger role in supporting infrastructure projects.

McGinty supports investing in strong, sustainable infrastructure to help businesses operate more efficiently and minimize accidents due to poor infrastructure.
