Fifty new jobs for Limerick as US manufacturing company locates in city

AN American manufacturing company specialising in the building of modular homes is to set up a base on the southside of Limerick city, creating 50 new jobs.

Clenn Construction is to open in the Galvone Industrial Estate this year, and its investment could lead to up to 400 direct and indirect jobs over the next three to five years.

The enterprise will be operational in 2018, initially employing 50 people, with the potential for expansion and the creation of direct and indirect jobs in the regeneration area over the next three to five years, the council said

Manufacturers optimistic ahead of Trump's first State of the Union

One of President Donald Trump’s campaign promises was to revive U.S. manufacturing, and in the run-up to his first State of the Union address the industry is optimistic.

“I think [2017] was generally a positive year for manufacturing, [and] I think 2018 could be even better,” Scott Paul, president of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, told FOX Business.

Under Trump, manufacturing jobs jumped by 196,000 in 2017 from the prior year, when the sector saw a loss of 16,000 jobs. The increase in 2017 is biggest since 2014.

Pfizer Plans $5 Billion Boost in U.S. Manufacturing From Tax Law Changes

Pfizer Inc. reported a surge in profit due to gains from the recently enacted tax law, and the drugmaker said it plans to pay a tax of $15 billion on overseas profits over the next eight years.

The company also said it plans to invest about $5 billion in capital projects in the U.S. over the next five years, including bolstering its manufacturing presence.

"I am pleased that the aspects of most importance to us were addressed in the new tax code," Chief Financial Officer Frank D'Amelio said.

Walmart's pledge to boost US manufacturing helps Missouri company

A Missouri company is benefiting big from Walmart’s effort to boost manufacturing in the United States.

Buddeez Inc., which makes milk crates, plastic storage bins and other products for Walmart and other retailers in Union, is in the midst of an expansion. Its growth is part of Walmart’s 10-year initiative to invest $250 billion in each of the 50 states.

“One of the great things about the partnership with Walmart is that we are able to expand our product base,” said Mark Horstman, senior vice president of sales at Buddeez. “We are able to expand to other retailers; we can sell more products to Walmart.
