Before members of Congress head out of D.C. and back to work in their respective districts and states at the end of September, there is a piece of must-pass federal legislation crucial to manufacturers in the U.S. The Water Resources Development Act of 2016 (WRDA), which authorizes key infrastructure investments.
WRDA—in the latest edition of the ASCE’s Report Card for America’s Infrastructure, America’s overall infrastructure received a measly D grade, with our nation’s inland waterways and levees ranking the lowest with a D-. Our ports, which moves 95 percent of overseas trade produced or consumed by the U.S., received a C grade. In order for American manufacturers to move goods and remain competitive in the global economy, it is vital that we invest in infrastructure. WRDA would ensure infrastructure investments in our harbors and for inland waterway navigation and port dredging. It is crucial that Congress move forward with long-term authorizations and extensions for infrastructure.
Please send a letter to urge your member of Congress to support the Water Resources Development Act.
